DUI Checkpoint West Side of Las Vegas

Written by: The Law Offices of Garrett T. Ogata

Las Vegas Metro will be conducting a Sobriety Checkpoint in the west area of Las Vegas. The checkpoint will be focusing on both alcohol impairment and/or drug impairment.

Officers will be on the look-out for drug and alcohol impaired drivers of all ages as well as impaired passengers.

On Friday, June 7, 2013, there will be a DUI checkpointconducted by the Traffic Bureau, Las Vegas Police Department. Hours of operation will be from 7 pm Friday evening with a concluding time of 3 am Saturday morning.

The Checkpoint will be located in western Las Vegas and will include officers from several area commands. The extra officers will be from the Northwest, Bolden, and Enterprise commands.

The intent of the checkpoint is to reduce the amount of impaired drivers suspected to be traveling this section of highway. The site was chosen because of the high number of reported accidents with contributing alcohol and / or drug factors.

The Officers will be stopping cars and speaking to the occupants in an attempt to identify drug and/ or alcohol impairment. Additionally, officers will be enforcing underage drinking violations. Drivers of all ages will be interviewed.

This action is an attempt to identify and remove impaired drivers before they can cause injury to themselves or other motorists. The Las Vegas Police Department is determined to maintain a safe highway system for Nevada residents and its visitors. Sobriety checkpoints are an efficient tool used by the department to reach and support this goal.

Las Vegas DUI Defense AttorneyGarrett T. Ogata, encourages you to be careful this weekend and refrain from driving if you are impaired. If you are stopped for being impaired, remember you have the right to remain silent and refuse a field sobriety test.
