It is Cinco De Mayo weekend in Las Vegas and we know many people will be flocking to the Strip and local area establishments to celebrate. The Law Offices of Garrett T. Ogata want to remind all Las Vegas residents to be careful when hitting the roads this holiday weekend. Please be aware the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has a DUI check point scheduled for Friday, May 3, 2013 from 7:00pm to 3:00am. This DUI checkpoint will be located on the east side of town near Lamb Boulevard and Charleston Boulevard. The goal of this check point is to discover individuals driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. However traffic tickets for expired or invalid registration, no insurance and invalid licenses and more can be expected to be administered. LVMPD’s goal is to reduce the number of alcohol related incidents at an identified intersection that has a high number of impaired drivers.
If you are stopped at a check point or in a traffic stop by an officer, please remember you have the right to remain silent and have the right to refuse a field sobriety test. See Traffic Stops (DUIs) and Your Rights – Garrett T. Ogata The Law Offices of Garrett T. Ogata encourage individuals to avoid drinking and driving and to take a cab home if necessary.
