What Are the Results of a DUI Checkpoint in Las Vegas?

Las Vegas law enforcement personnel schedule random DUI checkpoints to identify and arrest motorists who are driving under the influence of alcohol.  It is important to know your rights before such an encounter.  See Traffic Stops & Your Rights.

A first-time offender may spend a minimum of two days in jail; or could be sentenced to as much as 6 months and/or community service. You may also pay a fine, be required to attend and pay for DUI school, VIP (victim impact panel) and have your license suspended. See DUI 1st.

In some cases, a judge may order an ignition interlock device on your vehicle. This device requires you to blow into a mouthpiece to measure alcohol level. Your car will not be able to start until you follow those steps. The convicted driver pays the cost of installing the device.
